Nouran Gohar bt Olivia Blatchford: 3-0 (11-3, 11-4. 11-7)
World number 3 Nouran Gohar did not let her opponent settle into the match, hitting the ball at a relentless pace like she usually does. Blatchford played better in the third game but it was too little too late and Egypt is now 1-0 up before the clash between El Sherbini and Sobhy.
Read’s Nouran’s impressions after her match, from Jenny Lavaud
Nour El Sherbini bt Amanda Sobhy: 3-1 (11-7, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11)
An exciting match as expected! Sherbini had the upper hand at the beginning but Sobhy came back strong in the 2nd before getting two no lets against her at 9-9. The American number 1 dominated the third before things got very close in the 4th. She had a couple of game balls to take her opponent into a fifth but it was Sherbini who prevailed 13-11. Egypt is through to the semis.
