Egypt 1-0 Canada: A chuffed Nikki!
Nour El Sherbini (EGY) 3-0 Nikki Todd (CAN) 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 (20m)
Such a pleasure to see Nikki Todd on court here! I hadn’t seen her for a few years, she went up to 49WR, and at 32, was able to show a few lovely trickshots to the Princess!
Far from being ridiculous, the Canadian actually prompted the Egyptian crowd to support vocally their girl, and a good start of the first and third game for the Canadian, 3/1, 33, 4/4, 7/6 in the first, then 3/1 again, 4/4 5/5 in the third. Good match, lovely start of the day.

“Thanks for noticing, yes, my serve got me a few points. Against a player of Nour’s caliber, it’s not the same, but it definitely helps, and I’ll take anything that helps against her right?
“I was so excited to play her, I only played Gohar in the last world teams China, it was very exciting for me to play somebody on that level again, as I’m not playing full time anymore, I’m coaching in Toronto Cricket Club.
“To get on court again, I was just so excited, I just wanted to stay in it, and to be able to get a few points, she said actually ‘nice shot’ a couple of time, that was really exciting for me, I felt I played well, sometimes I wish I hadn’t played a couple of errors, but I had no pressure on me, so I went on there and gave everything I had.
