Canada 2-1 Wales:

A CANADA 2-1 WALES C11
Nikole Todd 3-0 Stacey Gooding 11-4, 11-3, 11-6 (18m)
Nicole Bunyan 2-3 Lowri Roberts 12-10, 11-5, 6-11, 7-11, 8-11 (44m)
Hollie Naughton 3-1 Emily Whitlock 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7 (42m)

Coach to Canada Vicky Lust on her team’s win today:

“I think it was a good team performance, Nicole was unlucky. Nikki played great and Hollie is a great number one, it was a super strong performance. If Wales had Tesni [Evans] maybe it would have been different, but then again we should have had Danielle [Letourneau, who is recovering from a torn ACL]. Both teams were missing strong players.

“We knew it would be tough and that two could be a tough match. As well, the European countries have a lot of players who don’t necessarily play on tour but are really good and a lot of non-European countries don’t really know about them.

“It’s a first World Teams for Nicole and Canada don’t play many team events. Lowri’s played a lot of European Teams and World Teams and is totally used to it. If it was a PSA event, Nicole probably would have won that, but it’s a different competition and experience. It was a good performance and we’re looking forward to playing Switzerland tomorrow.”
